The person who has to make the orders work

Harry Da Souza occupies an uncomfortable position inside the Harrigans' criminal world. He is trusted to resolve problems, which also means he inherits the consequences of other people's decisions. The fixer perspective gives the series a practical point of view: a demand made in confidence still has to be translated into actions that will affect allies, rivals and the person carrying it out.

A family organisation makes the work more complicated. Formal authority, personal loyalty and family resentment do not always align. Someone may be indispensable to keeping an operation together without being able to dictate what its leaders do next. The premise invites attention to how much stability depends on the person who is expected to deal with each new crisis.

The Harrigans and the people around Harry

Tom Hardy plays Harry, with Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan and Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan. Paddy Considine plays Kevin Harrigan, while Joanne Froggatt portrays Harry's wife Jan. Lara Pulver plays Bella Harrigan and Anson Boon plays Eddie, extending the family relationships that Harry must navigate.

Ronan Bennett created the series, with Jez Butterworth serving as showrunner. Its North London crime-family setting brings internal tensions into contact with rival organisations and outside scrutiny. This is the television series that began in 2025, distinct from the similarly named 2023 feature film Mob Land.

Following the loyalties

Start with the first season and pay attention to the difference between the person giving an instruction and the person who stands to benefit from it. In a story built around a fixer, a successful immediate solution can create a longer-term obligation. That makes the relationships as useful to track as the visible conflicts.

This may suit viewers who like crime ensembles in which pressure comes from inside the organisation as well as from its enemies. Harry's competence is a starting condition, not a guarantee that every demand can be reconciled. The question to carry through the episodes is what loyalty requires when protecting the institution, protecting an individual and protecting one's own household begin to point in different directions.
